Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering - University at Buffalo
Chemical engineering combines chemistry with physics, mathematics and economics to solve societal problems and to find safe, efficient and environmentally benign ways of making useful products from raw materials such as petroleum, natural gas and coal. Biomedical engineering combines biology, medicine and engineering principles to develop novel approaches to solve complex problems in medical care, and help design the next generation of medical equipment. The Department provides educational programs at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. Open-ended design problems are introduced from the beginning, and grow in complexity as students become more proficient.
